- The freight routes along the Middle Rhine are the rail routes in Europe most busy. The Hagen - Siegen -Giessen - Hanau measure in the so -called Middle Rhine study of the BMDV was determined as one of three nuclear measures for the new and expansion of the Middle Rhine Corridor.The Ruhr-Sieg route is the offer of an attractive walk for freight trains from the direction of Belgium, Netherlands, NRW towards Bavaria, Czech Republic, Austria. Today these trains run over the highly stressed classic Rhine axis (especially in the Cologne-Koblenz-Mainz section) and could in the futureAlso run over the Ruhr win and thus dissolve bottlenecks on the classic Rhine axis.
The overall measure is divided into four planning sections (PA).
In the PA 4 planning section, the first building basic examinations for construction measures in Wetzlar, Giessen-Bergwald, Butzbach andBad Nauheim carried out. In addition, further construction measures in PA 4 are now planned. These partial measures are the subject of this tender.
The project is currently in preliminary planning (LPH 2). The advertised services are awarded for two performance periods.
