• Quotation are invited for Safety Glasses Glasses, Safety, Dark, Standard. Issue Date: 16-Oct-2022 Due Date: 14-Nov-2022 Due Time: 13:00 SPECIFICATION FOR SAFETY SPECTACLES (DARK) 1. Brief Description: This document has been developed to provide guidance in selection and purchasing of the “Safety Spectacles (Dark)” for employees of Kuwait Oil Company (KOC). The Safety Spectacles shall be suitable for use in Oil & Gas Industry and shall give protection against the following hazards as per ANSI Z 87.1 or BS EN 166: • Impact Resistant • Chemicals Resistant • UV protection • High speed particles at extreme temperature Note: Manufacturer can submit his own designed “Safety Spectacles (Dark)” which meets the basic requirements mentioned in this specification 2. Testing & Certification: • The Safety Spectacles shall be subjected to test as per ANSI Z87.1 and / or BS EN 166; • Test Certificate: Test certificate in English language given by internationally accredited third party certifying agency shall be submitted along with the sample stating that the relevant model of the Spectacles is complying with requirements of the above standard. Also, copy of the test report provided by the third party agency shall be submitted. 3. Material & Design Features • The spectacles shall be suitable for use in Oil & Gas Industry • Grey color Polycarbonate lenses • The lenses must be sun glare filters and shall not restrict color recognition • Spectacles shall be impact resistant and protection against high speed particles at extreme temperature • Lenses shall be Chemical Resistant, UV protection, Anti-fog, Scratchproof and Antistatic • Attractive design, elegant look / appearance (attractive to wear) • Ergonomically designed, Secured and Pressure-free fit (even when worn for extended periods) • Lenses must be very easy to clean • Light weight for wearing all day long • Variable side arm length adjustment; flexible side arms with variable inclination • Spectacles shall be free from projections, sharp edges or other defects which are likely to cause discomfort or injury during use • No parts of the spectacles which are in contact with the wearer shall be made of materials which are known to cause any skin irritation • Durable frame with good resistance to oil, grease, aromatic solvents and alkaline • No-metal construction • Lenses shall be free from striae, bubbles, waves and other flaws which would impair their optical quality • Suitable for wearing in hot climatic conditions of Kuwait (ambient temperature 0°C to +55°C) 4. Sizes Safety Spectacles sizes shall be of Standard size suitable for use by both female and male personnel 5. Sample & Catalogue The bidder shall provide a sample Safety Spectacles (Dark) along with the detailed catalogue in English language with details about types of protection it provides to the users. The samples shall be on returnable basis. If the purchase order is placed, then that sample will be retained and the bidder will be required to supply the Safety Spectacles (Dark) exactly similar to the approved model. 6. Evaluation Criteria Merely meeting the minimum specified technical specifications shall not guarantee the bid to be successful. The bidder offering spectacles with additional comfort features / specifications, which are found more suitable for KOC working conditions, shall be weighted accordingly. The following will be the evaluation criteria: • Technical specification for spectacles • Past users experience in KOC • Spectacles having more safety features • Comfort features (suitable for continuous wearing e.g. 12 hours) 7. Other Requirements • The vendor shall provide full technical specification of the offered spectacles. • The vendor shall present a declaration that the offer complies with the above specifications. • The manufacture-s model deviating from specifications described herein, but having equal or better performance and features may be accepted • Any deviations from or non-conformance with these specifications shall be clearly stated, with reasons, by the manufacturer while submitting the bid • Quality Assurance certification to be submitted along with each batch dispatched with one-year warranty 8. Marking Requirements All Safety spectacles shall bear the following permanent markings in the spectacle according to the Certified International Standard:  Manufacturer-s mark or their logo  Standard  Coverage  Impact mark Note: The marking shall not impede vision when worn 9. Information to be supplied by the Manufacturer The manufacturer shall provide with each Spectacles at least the following information: • Name and address of the manufacturer; • Number of the International Standard; • Spectacle model identification; • Instructions for storage, use and maintenance; • Specific instructions for cleaning and disinfection; • Details of the field of use, protection capabilities and performance characteristics; • The obsolescence deadline or period of obsolescence, if applicable, for the complete spectacle and/or component parts; • The type of packaging suitable for transport, if applicable; • The significance of the marking on the frame and the ocular; • Warning that scratched or damaged oculars should be replaced; • Warning that eye-protectors against high speed particles worn over standard ophthalmic spectacles may transmit impacts, thus creating a hazard to the wearer.
